2009.10.05   3D "Run" by Tomek Bagiński

On 2nd October there was a premiere of our studio's latest project directed by Tomasz Bagiński entitled "Bieg" (Run). This short film made in co-operation with "Lech", which is the first serious attempt at a 3D stereoscopic animation in Poland. The film is already available on a specially-prepared website www.lech.pl and then in Multikino cinemas in the whole country.

Thirty people working on a short film every day consisting of 85 takes. The main protagonist travels through 9 worlds. The set design for the actors' choreography was made on a computer and not in a traditional way, using a real set design.

"This may be a real revolution, like introducing colour into film. Seemingly nothing changes and suddenly we are introducing image depth and we are getting the real effect that we are used to on a daily basis. We realize the cinema image is artificial and the 3D one is real" - says Tomek Bagiński, Creative Director in Platige Image and the director of "Run".

The film shows stages of human life: from early childhood to adulthood. According to the director the film is a metaphor of human life. Particular plots have been shown in a dynamic way through a real run of the film's main protagonist. Thanks to the revolutionary motion capture technique used for example in computer games, movements of stuntmen in the animation look natural and realistic foregrounding the 3D effect. It takes place thanks to the use of sensors which are attached to the actors's bodies and enable to reconstruct a character's real movement.

On September 29th, on a special pre-premiere screening of "Bieg" at Złote Tarasy Multikino in Warsaw, Tomek Bagiński and Marcin Filipek from Platige Image shown some behind-the-scenes footage from the production.
